Lou's 60th Birthday

After a week catching up with family and friends, it came time for the real reason we’d flown home – Lou’s 60th Birthday party!
Once more, friends and family gathered at Squid’s Ink in Belmont to celebrate. This was the first time we’d been back since our wedding almost 18 months earlier and again it turned out to be a great venue.
We had a brilliant time catching up with the Buzai and O’dea clans – it’d been a while since we’d seen a lot of them so we had plenty to talk about!
After a few drinks and a delicious meal Lou got up in front of the crowd to make a speech, thanking us all for coming from far and wide to celebrate the big occasion.
With the speeches over we moved in to the main room, where Lou’s nephew Chris had prepared a very impressive slide show of photos from throughout Lou’s 60 years. With plenty of shots of Lou’s childhood and his growing family accompanied by some very clever captions, there were plenty of emotional moments as well as a lot of hilarious ones. By the end everyone agreed the Chris had done his Uncle Lou proud!
To round out the formalities, Val brought out 4 very tasty cakes. No prizes for guessing who the big one spelling out "Lou" was for, and the other 3 were for Sarah, Daniel and Paul who also have their birthdays in April. We sang a very hearty "Happy Birthday" and then the family all got together for some photos. Being a jet-setting bunch it can be hard to get the whole Buzai family in the one place at the one time!
Just as they had done at the wedding, the festivities soon moved outside and we enjoyed the rest of the evening with family, friends, drinks and even cigars!
It was a fantastic end to a fantastic evening and a fitting way to celebrate 60 years for Lou. There a whole lot more pictures to see here.
