From the 15th to 18th centuries, The Loire Valley in west central France was the playground of several generations of French aristocracy. Today the legacy of these kings and nobles lives on in the elaborate châteaux spread throughout the region. We loaded up the Sunny after Graspop and drove west to Brussels where we met up with Viv. She’d caught the Eurostar from London that morning and was coming along to see some of France with us. So the Sunny was packed and off we went on our big European adventure. After crossing the channel from Dover to Dunkirk we set the Sat Nav for the small town of Dessel in Belgium, host town of the annual Graspop Metal Meeting. Even with a labouriously slow peak-hour run around the Antwerpen Ring, we made it just in time to load up on food and beer at the supermarket in nearby Mol. Read more…

Sarah’s friend Viv just flew in to the UK for a holiday. And what better way for her to start her trip than with a mini-reunion with some of the other Aussie expats in London that she and Sarah went to school with?
The chosen venue was the Pitcher and Piano, a lovely spot in Richmond overlooking the river. Brenton and Sam came up the river in their boat and brought along their daughter Lilly. This was the first time we’d seen her and she’s already got a little brother or sister on the way! Read more…

With our big European road trip looming closer, it was finally time for Sarah to say farewell to her job at 3 Valleys Water. She received some very thoughtful going away presents and going out in true Aussie style she organised a good old-fashioned sausage sizzle for the entire accounts department down at the local pub.
