The May Day long weekend lay ahead of us. Kevin’s copy of Rock Band for Xbox had arrived complete with guitar, mic and drum kit (!), the final of the Eurovision song contest was on Saturday, the Monaco GP1 was on Sunday, and we were very well stocked with beer, meat and BBQ coals. Game on! Read more…

With a trip to Iceland planned for the weekend of Sarah’s 30th, we got everybody together on the previous Saturday for a birthday celebration.
After a lunchtime cocktail or two at home, we made our way into town for the business end of proceedings. Read more…

After touring their "United Abominations" album as recently as last June, Megadeth returned to the UK as headliners of Dave Mustaine’s "Gigantour".
Last time the band’s London show was a relatively intimate one in the famous Astoria theatre but this time they were playing to a packed out Brixton Academy. Read more…

We’d considered heading to Las Vegas for my birthday this year but due to work it didn’t eventuate. However, since going to Heston Blumenthal’s highly-acclaimed restaurant The Fat Duck for our 1st wedding anniversary, we’d been wanting to go back to the village of Bray for lunch at his pub The Hind’s Head.
A birthday seemed as good an excuse as any, and Bryce and Barnaby were happy to join us for some gastronomical delights… Read more…

After an exciting and eventful 2007, it was great to get some time to relax over a very enjoyable Christmas break. Time to eat, drink and make merry!
The festive season kicked things off with Bryce joining us on another trip to the European Christmas markets, this time in France. We boarded the trusty Sunny and after an early morning ferry to Calais drove on to the town of Rouen, famous as being the place where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake. Read more…

When we heard about Led Zeppelin’s reunion gig, my first thought was "I have to be there no matter what". However being one the most anticipated gigs of all time, it wasn’t any surprise to see that overwhelming demand (20 million+ applications for less than 20,000 seats) meant that our chances were always going to be slim. After a great night seeing Anathema and Porcupine tree at The Forum we slept quite late on Saturday. But Kyle was only in London for a few days and we’d promised to take him to see Stonehenge. So after a lazy morning and a full English breakfast cooked up by Lynda all five of us piled into the Sunny and followed the ley lines west to the famous stone circle. Read more…

Had a big Saturday on the cards, with Australia playing England in the Rugby World Cup quarter finals during the day and then Sarah’s school friend Brad’s 30th birthday in the evening.
Sarah’s ex workmate Scott came down to the Finchley road Walkabout with us, as did Bryce, Lynda and Barnaby. Australia ended up losing which was bad news for the Aussies but good news for Barnaby and Scott. Ah well at least they didn’t go on to win the whole thing – would’ve never heard the last of it. Sarah’s friend Viv just flew in to the UK for a holiday. And what better way for her to start her trip than with a mini-reunion with some of the other Aussie expats in London that she and Sarah went to school with?
The chosen venue was the Pitcher and Piano, a lovely spot in Richmond overlooking the river. Brenton and Sam came up the river in their boat and brought along their daughter Lilly. This was the first time we’d seen her and she’s already got a little brother or sister on the way! Read more…
